When to test

The test used by Ease are 4th generation HIV tests, which test for IgG antibodies and p24 antigen.

The test determines a patient’s HIV status by testing for the presence or absence of HIV antibodies (Immunoglobulin G) and p24 viral antigens. p24 antigens are a component of the HIV virus, and the body will produce HIV antibodies (IgG) in response to the presence of the p24 antigens. If properly conducted after the window period, the test is able to determine HIV infection with high accuracy and reliability.

After you've received your test results, you will be able to connect with and discuss your results with one of our doctors over a teleconsultation at no additional cost.

HIV testing at a glance

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a type of STI that is typically passed from person to person through sexual contact.

What is HIV?

How is HIV transmitted?

HIV (Human immunodeficiency virus) is a virus that attacks cells necessary for normal immunity functions, resulting in the patient becoming more vulnerable to other infections and diseases.

The most common form of HIV transmission is unprotected sexual intercourse. The virus can enter the body through the lining of the vagina, vulva, penis, rectum, or mouth during sexual activity.

What happens if HIV is left untreated?

Why should I get tested for HIV?

If untreated, HIV can lead to Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS), in which the body’s immune system is badly damaged due to the virus. Although there is currently no cure for HIV, there are treatments available, such as antiretroviral therapy, which can suppress the HIV virus and slow the progression of the disease.

If you are at risk, getting tested is a crucial first step to early diagnosis and early treatment with medication that may delay the progression of the HIV infection to AIDS. Furthermore, getting tested and knowing your HIV status also prevents you from transmitting the disease to others.
